Currently in the NY and NJ areas, COVID-19 is a major public health concern we all need to follow, and we can do this thanks to updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and our local/state healthcare officials. These updates are available here:
- https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home / https://covid19.nj.gov
Also, the leading healthcare agencies and major media networks will provide updates regularly, so you can refer to them as well. It’s important to be on the lookout for misinformation spread by unverified social media sources, so the sources we mentioned should be considered above others. We at Chai Urgent Care are here to answer your questions about the coronavirus in NY and NJ.
What is Chai Urgent Care doing in response to the coronavirus?
The staff at our clinic are staying up to date on health protocols so we can maintain clean, safe, and fully equipped facilities for our patients. The physicians at our clinic are providing assessments and testing for those patients who need it, but if you’re experiencing symptoms, please do not come see us in-person, as this could put our other patients, our staff, and you at risk for infection. Instead, please call us or book a phone appointment or virtual visit with us. We can provide testing at our clinic’s curbside if necessary.
We can also provide antibody testing you can call us about. Antibody testing can help health professionals track the spread of the virus in NY and NJ. Antibody testing is for patients without symptoms.
What are the symptoms of COVID-19 infection?
There are many possible symptoms of COVID-19 infection, but some are more common than others. The most common symptoms are:
- Dry cough
Those symptoms are generally mild, but may be more serious in some patients. It’s possible that a patient will experience more severe symptoms like:
- Shortness of breath
- Muscle pain
- Loss of speech
- Loss of movement
- Difficulty breathing
- Pressure in the chest
- Chest pain
Symptoms may not show themselves until 2 to 14 days after infection, or they may not even show themselves at all.
What do I do if I have any symptoms of COVID-19 infection?
If you or someone else is experiencing life-threatening or possibly life-threatening symptoms, then you must call 911 for emergency care. If someone is having minor symptoms, then please call us at Chai Urgent Care. This may be the best way of helping the person. Please remember, though, to stay home to prevent spreading the virus. Also, wearing a mask can prevent spreading the virus to other people. Self-quarantine and seek at-home medical help.
What can I do to help with the coronavirus?
Even if you, your family, and your friends are not showing any symptoms, it’s still important to:
- Socially distance (6 feet from other people)
- Wash your hands regularly (for at least 20 seconds; if you can’t wash your hands, use hand sanitizer)
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Clean and disinfect your home
- Take other precautions like the ones your local health officials recommend
If you’d like to take additional steps to prevent the spread of the virus locally, then here’s what we recommend. Call us or book a phone/virtual appointment with us if you or a loved one is experiencing any symptoms, or if you don’t have any symptoms, call us to ask about antibody testing near you. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Chai Urgent Care if you have any other questions for us or require our services. We’re here for you, your loved ones, and the NY and NJ communities!
